Speaker: Rick Bridges

Rick Bridges, Vice President, Client Development of Roanoke Trade, has been with the company since 1998. He resides in Massachusetts and his scope of responsibilities include service and sales within the New England region. With over 18 years of international trade and insurance experience, Rick is a well-respected advisor on insurance and risk management matters involving the trade and transportation of freight. In addition to his experience in transportation insurance and bonds, Rick is a skilled multi-line commercial insurance agent licensed in several states. He is supported by a top-notch service and claims team at Roanoke Trade. Rick has delivered cargo insurance workshops and seminars to clients nationwide and is a frequent speaker at local and national transportation association conferences. It is his dedication to service and in-depth understanding of his clients’ businesses that make him a respected advisor to importers, exporters, customs brokers, and transportation intermediaries. Rick has worked on special projects with the United Nations and other governmental organizations. He has also assisted with Rotary International in transporting much needed medical supplies and equipment to various third world countries.

Rick sits on the Air Forwarders Association (AFA) Board of Directors and is active in both the Regulatory Affairs and E-Commerce Committee. The AFA serves as the voice of the air forwarding industry. Seeing industry issues emerge in real-time through Rick’s involvement with the Association allows him to better understand the ever-changing risks of his clients. Rick has previously served as President for the Coalition of New England Companies for Trade (CONECT) and is a regular contributor to industry publications including the American Journal of Transportation (AJOT), Shipping Digest, and Heavy Lift & Project Forwarding International. His prior work history includes cargo insurance underwriting for a leading Bermuda-based insurance company.

Rick’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rhode Island with a Marine Affairs major and several graduate-level maritime courses. In the United Kingdom at the University of Plymouth, honors courses in Maritime Business and Law rounded out his education.

Zoi Fanourgiakis joined Roanoke Trade in February of 2018, as an Account Manager in the New York office, serving clients all across the Tristate Area. Zoi is a licensed insurance broker with over 10 years of experience in insurance. Zoi specializes in catering to her clients’ unique set of insurance and surety needs while managing client relationships and seeking new business opportunities for transportation intermediaries, customs brokers, importers, and exporters. In addition to her P&C license for the state of New York, Zoi is also licensed in Life & Health.

Zoi is a graduate of the City University of NY, Hunter College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and in Economics. Always searching to enhance her knowledge, Zoi is currently working towards obtaining her Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM).
